With the Ford Focus ST announced in the Detroit News and Free Press this week (with a study into bringing their even higher performance RS model direct from Europe to the United States), I would anticipate Mark Reuss (President GMNA) and Tom Stephens (head of GM Powertrain) pushing for a Chevrolet Cruze SS package that has at least the performance the Chevrolet Cobalt SS/TC if not more. I would anticipate the powertrain derived from the upcoming Buick Regal GS (2.0L T). As always with domestic sport compacts, could this finally be our "Evo/STI" competitor and will Chevrolet, Ford or Dodge offer us an AWD model? Probably not, but we can hope!
