2012 remote start

I bought a 2012 chevy cruze from an auction. The car came with a remote that looks like it has a remote starter symbol on the remote. I was wondering if every 2012 chevy cruze has a remote start. Mine doesn't start with the remote. Was that an option or did all 2012's have remote start. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

To engage the Remote Start.
You must first use the remote to "Lock" the vehicle.
Then press and hold the Remote Start button.
